The newly constituted Joint Committee for Lokpal Bill, which comprised of ministers and civil society activists, will have their first meeting on this Saturday.

The meeting will be held on April 16 and will be chaired by the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherji. Pranab is the Chairman of the committee that was formed by the government to draft the Lokpal Bill. Government had taken the privilege to appoint Pranab as chairman after the agitation initiated by the social activist Anna Hazare.

There will be a group ministers besides the chairman Pranab in this committee. The rest of the members are Home Minsiter Chidambaram, Law minister Veerappa Moily, HRD Minsiter Kapil sibal and Water Resources Minister Slaman Khurshid.

Anna hazare will be represented on behalf of civil society besides the rest of the members as former Supreme court judge N Santosh Hegde, former law minister Shanti Bhushan, Lawyer Prashanth Bhushan and RTI activist Arvind Kejriwal.

Now, this total Joint Committee has to come up with an own procedure in preparing the effective Lokpal Bill legislation before June 30.

Moily said in this context as It is up to political parties. If all of them agree for its introduction and passage, we welcome such a move... government is anxious for its early passage.

The necessity for the separate Joint Committee was demanded by Anna hazare as the Lokpal Bill proposed by the government spells nothing as a useful result to the prevailing issue.Mr. Hazare is always demanding for a strong Lok Pal Bill to deal the prevailing corruption issue of the nation and determined to achieve the same through his Joint Committee.
