To hell with IPL!
I am dismayed at IPL's decision to hold the tournament outside India.
Is holding IPL more important than elections in India? Couldn't they wait for some more time? Isn't it time we focussed entirely on elections, on which people to choose to govern us for the next crucial five years rather than on cricket?
Moreover, if Indian sports institutions will begin to leave India because of security how will we expect the foreign teams to visit India for playing in future? Why are we allowing ourselves to behave like Pakistan when we are not there?
IPL seems to me to be acting like proverbial Nero playing the flute while India will be burning in political fire to choose its next government. read more »
What is brewing is not good
I am afraid what is brewing on the Indian political horizon is not good.
Most people may think of the coming general election as just an other election coming after every five years or so to choose a government at the centre. Almost any government. I do not see it this way. More than choosing a government I see it as choosing the very future of India at this very very crucial time in its history. Indian politicians say and do things for effect and often think that public will forget .... and forgive. Sadly, they often DO!
Lastly year, Mayawati had assigned roughly Rs. 4000 crores (USD 850 million) to rougly 12 projects while observing Kanshiram's 1st death anniversary.
